Investigation of Teachers' Opinions on Life Skills of Primary School Students
This research aims to determine the views of teachers working in primary education institutions on life skills. With this study, it is expected that necessary measures will be taken to improve the quality of students during their education and to provide them with the necessary skills. Thus, it will enable the students of the modern age to develop a wide range of skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, keeping up with change. Case study design method was used in the research. The research consists of teachers working in primary schools within the borders of Kayapınar and Yenişehir districts of Diyarbakır province in the 2023-2024 academic year. In this study, in which qualitative research method was used, data were obtained from 15 teachers working in primary schools through semi-structured and non-directive interview technique. Validity and reliability were tried to be ensured by explaining the data collection process in detail and giving direct quotations from the answers given by the participants. As a result of the study; As a result, it is seen that life skills training has positive results in terms of developing 21st century skills in students. It is thought that it is important for students to acquire these skills in terms of both behavioural and academic today. In addition, it was concluded that life skills implemented in schools contribute to the cognitive, affective and social development of students.
