Investigation of Teachers' Views on Communication Skills of School Principals Working in Public Schools
School principals working in educational institutions should be able to express their feelings and ideas in a clear and clear language, use communication skills effectively, listen to the other person, act as a bridge in the process of information transfer, and transfer their knowledge and experience for the purpose of explanation in an appropriate language without imposing. It can be stated that in cases where the school principal can achieve this as a leader and his/her interaction with the teacher is positive, the motivation of all educational stakeholders increases, which in turn increases academic achievement in the school. In line with this important interaction, the aim of this study is to examine teachers' views on the communication skills of school principals working in public schools according to some variables. The population of the study consists of 11978 teachers working in the central districts of Diyarbakır in the 2023-2024 academic year. The sample of the study consists of 370 teachers determined by random sampling from the population. The data of the study were collected using the "Teachers' Opinions on School Principals' Communication Skills" scale developed by Şimşek (2003). The scale developed by Şimşek (2003) consisted of 28 items and one dimension. In the analysis of the research data; arithmetic mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA values were calculated. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that teachers' opinions about the communication skills of school principals differed significantly according to the place of school they worked and their level of education, while they did not differ significantly according to their gender and age.
