Abstract

Investigation of Charismatic Leadership Behaviors of School Principals According to Teachers' Perceptions
The school principal, who is accepted as a charismatic person by teachers in educational institutions, must be a person who always takes care of the needs of the members, who can make and implement unconventional decisions, who can take risks, who has a vision, and who can produce new ideas about the future of the institution. School principals with these characteristics will be more successful in bringing their institutions to the point they aim for. The aim of this study, which is so important for educational institutions, is to examine the charismatic leadership behaviors of school principals according to teacher perceptions. The population of the study consists of 12860 teachers working in the central districts of Diyarbakır in the 2023-2024 academic year. The sample of the study consisted of 350 teachers who were randomly sampled from the population. Conger and Kanungo Charismatic Leadership Scale developed by Conger and Kanungo (1994)50 was used to collect data. The scale consists of 25 items and 6 sub-dimensions (determining and explaining the vision, environmental sensitivity, exhibiting extraordinary behaviors, taking personal risks, showing sensitivity to member needs, not maintaining the status quo). As a result of the analyses, it was seen that the charismatic leadership behaviors of school principals did not differ significantly according to their gender (except for the Philanthropy dimension), education level and seniority.
