Abstract

Investigation of School Principals' Administrative Competencies According to Teachers' Perceptions
If the task of the school principal is to keep the organisation alive, to overcome the complex problems arising from the pressure of the external and internal environment of the organisation, to establish and maintain the effectiveness of the organisation and to successfully achieve its goals; in order to achieve this, school principals should also have certain competencies as educational administrators. These competences of school principals have three factors: technical competences, humanistic competences and conceptual (decision-administrative) competences. The aim of this study, which is of such importance for educational institutions, is to examine the administrative competencies of school principals according to teacher perceptions. The population of the study consists of 11255 teachers working in the central districts of Diyarbakır in the 2023-2024 academic year. The sample of the study consists of 360 teachers determined by random sampling from the universe. "School Principals' Competencies Scale", which Aksoy (2012) developed and used on primary school teachers in his doctoral thesis, was used for the data of the study. The scale consists of 38 items and 3 sub-dimensions (conceptual competences, technical competences and humanistic competences). As a result of the analyses, it was seen that school principals' administrative competencies did not differ significantly according to their gender, education level and seniority.
