Abstract
Immigrant Children and Religious Education
Migration is the movement of people from one geography to another as a result of civil war, political, economic, social and cultural reasons. Migration, which is one of the most important problems of the modern age, is becoming a deepening phenomenon today. Turkey is under the influence of migration waves due to its geographical location. Migrants use Turkey as a bridge to go to the European Union countries and the United States of America. Turkey has been exposed to a large and irregular migration movement, especially as a result of the wars occurring in the Middle East geography in the whole world axis. The understanding of democracy and freedom-based governance in Turkey makes our country an attractive place to live for refugees. Among the migrants coming to Turkey, individuals bring their children with them as they change their place of residence as a family. The fact that the majority of migrant children belong to the Islamic religion makes their religious education much more important. Since the level of religious readiness of these families who irregularly asylum in our country is similar to the social structure they came from, it shows a positive development in terms of religious education process. The research consists of students studying in primary schools within the borders of the central district of Trabzon province in the 2022-2023 academic year. In this study, in which qualitative research method was used, data were obtained by interviewing 27 foreign students studying in primary schools with semi-structured and non-directive interview technique about their views on religious education in line with their religious background.
