Abstract
Problems Experienced by Preschool Teachers in the Distance Education Process Implemented in Covid 19 Pandemic and Teachers' Opinions on These Problems
Covid 19, which started on 17 November 2019 in Wuhan, China, has turned into a worldwide outbreak as of December. In order to prevent the outbreak from spreading further and causing negative consequences, some preventive decisions and restrictions have been mandated by international health organisations (World Health Organization). Within the scope of these restrictions, pre-school, primary school, secondary school, high school and higher education institutions have been closed. In this context, the transition to distance education applications, which is a new era in education, has started. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to investigate the experiences and problems that preschool teachers working in different parts of Turkey, including provincial and central, have encountered in both learning and teaching areas during the Covid 19 pandemic. In line with these objectives, the general opinions and experiences of preschool education institution teachers about the distance education process put into practice as of the Covid 19 pandemic were investigated. In the study, a qualitative research prepared with a phenomenology design was designed. The teachers participating in the study consisted of 15 people working in various regions of Turkey, including provincial and central. Within the scope of these data, it was determined that pre-school teachers' negative opinions about distance education were predominant. In this context, especially in the provincial regions, the distance education process was sometimes interrupted due to problems in infrastructure services. In addition, in this period, communication with students was provided through platforms such as Zoom, WhatsApp and e-school via phones, tablets and computers. Again in this period, it became difficult to gain and follow up various motor, cognitive, social-emotional and self-care skills due to the fact that teachers and students could not be in the same physical environment. In addition, it was also revealed that many of the teachers who participated in the survey considered themselves inadequate in terms of using technology.
